DERMAROLLING OR MICRONEEDLING AT HOME: SHOULD YOU TRY IT?

What is Dermarolling and Microneedling?

Microneedling is a dermaroller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of this treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores.

Does Dermarolling and Microneedling really work?

DR. Seegobin from VIP MEDSPA Clinic said that fine lines, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation are diminished with regular Microneedling treatments at the VIP MEDSPA Clinic. For example, a 2008 study found that four microneedling sessions resulted in up to a 400 percent rise in collagen, a protein that makes skin firmer. You may not be able to produce these results at home. At VIP MEDSPA, a licenced Medical Aesthetician will perform the procedure in a sterile safe clinic environment where all treatments and services are overseen by Physicians such as Dr Seegobin.

Is Dermarolling at home safe?

Dr Seegobin and Dermatologists alike are highly against using the Dermarolling tools at home because the needles are not big enough to penetrate the proper holes of the skin, so you are essentially damaging your face for no reason.

How long does it take to see results from microneedling at a clinic?

Dr. Seegobin states your body’s wound healing processes heal your micro wounds immediately. However, the most dramatic results will not be visible until four to six weeks after treatment as it takes roughly this long for your body to create new, strong, healthy collagen.

In conclusion it is not safe to try Dermarolling at home. It is a riskier treatment which should be overseen by a Physician.
