Treatment areas & skin concerns
Microneedling can be used to treat various skin concerns and areas of the body. Here are the treatment areas and skin concerns that microneedling can address:
Face: Microneedling is commonly performed on the face to improve the appearance of scars, acne, dark spots, wrinkles, and large pores. The procedure can help smooth, firm, and tone the skin on the face.
Body: Microneedling can also be used on the body to target specific concerns such as stretch marks and cellulite. Longer needle lengths, typically ranging from 1.5mm to 3mm, may be used for body-specific concerns.
Hair loss (Alopecia): Some research suggests that microneedling may promote hair growth in individuals with alopecia, a condition characterized by hair loss.
Skin pigmentation issues: Microneedling can help address skin pigmentation issues such as hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tone. It may aid in reducing the appearance of pigmented spots and promoting a more even complexion.
Scarring: Microneedling is effective in treating minor scarring, including acne scars and scars from injuries or surgeries. It stimulates collagen production, which can help improve the texture and appearance of scars.
Wrinkles and fine lines: By promoting collagen production, microneedling can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, resulting in smoother and more youthful-looking skin.
Skin rejuvenation: Microneedling can contribute to overall skin rejuvenation by stimulating collagen and elastin production, leading to improved skin texture, tone, and elasticity.
Please note that the depth of microneedling treatment varies depending on the specific skin concern and the area being treated. The needle length ranges from 0.10mm to 3.00mm, with shorter needles typically used for more sensitive areas and longer needles for deep acne scarring and wrinkles. Reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture and softer, younger looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Micro needling can improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks.
Micro needling can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen® which is Health Canada approved. Our skin care experts will apply sterile saline/PRP to your skin and select the appropriate pen position based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
The feeling associated with micro needling is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable.
The microneedling procedure takes 30-60 minutes depending on the size of the area treated and numbing time.
Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the pen position used and the number of overlapping passes your skin-care professional performs. On average, patients experience redness for 2-4 days. Some patients heal completely in 24 hours. Utilizing appropriate post treatment products can aid the healing process.
Automated Microneedling (the Eclipse Micro Pen)devices move in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin , hence we create a control injury. On the other hand, Dermal Needling Roller does not create a precise vertical action, which can contribute to greater discomfort and inconsistent injury to skin resulting in creating micro scars that will later present it self as hyperpigmentation / hypopigmentation.
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment.
Some patients only require a single treatment once a year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with more significant skin-care concerns, such as acne scars, it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.
